Pilar O’Connor is a multi-disiplinary artist and designer, with a diverse studio practice bridging textile art, apparel design, art direction, and graphic design. Across a wide range of projects and mediums, she utilizes a distinct visual language - with references to outdoor play and regional pride - to approach her work from concept to creation.
While grounded in design, with a BFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and over 5 years of professional agency experience, Pilar explores alternate mediums under Sucka Free Certified- an apparel project founded in 2020, which introduced her to working with felt material and led her to creating visual art landscape compositions in 2023 by stitching felt onto canvas. In September 2024, Cafe Chrystie presented her first solo visual art exhibition.
Pilar was born and raised in San Fracisco, and is now based in between NYC + Barcelona. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Art Direction & New Narratives at Elisava and designing for Good Reads. She was previously a designer at Big Spaceship, R/GA, and Converse.
